Ladies of Soccer

Isabelle plays soccer with her new team, Northwest Nationals, and is loving every minute of it. Today she helped out friend by subbing in on an indoor team that was short a few players. I couldn't make it as I had to take Maria to her indoor game. I called Morrie to see how Isabelle was doing and he says "Is this the mother of the keeper?". WHAT? My baby is playing goalie??? Isabelle is a defender at heart and rarely steps into the goal (thus averting motherly heart problems), but they had no subs so it was like a break for her (all the girls played the whole game, and if you know indoor, that is some extensive cardio!). She was wiped out, but her team won (as they do everytime she has played with them) and she had fun.

Meanwhile, Maria was playing across town and I noticed one of the other team's girls looked familiar. Would you believe, it was Kylie, Maria's most BEST friend from pre-school! They were attached at the hip, well...Maria was probably dragging Kylie around by the hip...isn't that a leadership quality or something?...So when the girls finally realized it, they shyly giggled at one another and said hello. What a day!

Isabelle and Maria both played really well, and ran their little hearts out. Isabelle didn't let any goals by and Maria made 2 goals. Soccer is a big part of our lives, from indoor, to outdoor, from Maria all the way up to Morrie. From skills classes to summer camps, from coaching to cheering, we do it all. For a girl who hated going to her brother's games because it was too cold, I LOVE watching my family play. Who would have guessed it? Not I, Lady of Soccer.
