New Haircut!

This is her before shot - taken with Morrie's work camera. It makes my picture look like we had Yuen Lui in the backyard with us!

Izzy has been looking forward to cutting her hair for several months now. I made her appointment weeks ago, and then last week Maria got a friendly soccer match scheduled for the exact same time! Morrie was too tired from his climb to get up early for soccer, so I had soccer duty and he took Izzy to our uber fantastic hair stylist, Ali. Ali called me and we chatted and she said Izzy was already enjoying her appointment sans parents. Ali is one of the parents from Izzy's class, so luckily Morrie could leave her for the appointment and everyone was comfortable with that. Can you believe she is going into 7th grade???

The boys!

Here they are the evening before they headed out on the climb of Mt. Redoubt. Loren, Paul, Brian, John, Aaron and Morrie. Does Aaron have sticks for legs or what?? The next morning I came home to find a lot of empty beer bottles and pizza boxes. It must have been some serious male bonding.

Husky Picture Day!

This was my veru first Husky picture day! You get to walk into Husky Stadium- for free- and meet all the football players as well as some other very cool stuff! Here is Maria with her FREE Top Pot t-shirt over her shoulder and her FREE Top Pot donut. We choose free donuts over the free hotdogs!
Picture Day is not complete without a family portrait with Harry the Husky. Harry actually picked Morrie up and cradled him like a baby, but that pic is on someone else's camera.

Maria was super excited to sit and watch the cheerleaders from up close.

Guess who else we saw? The entire Womens soccer team! The girls went down the line, getting each autograph and talking a little to each one. They are awesome.

Too bad we didn't get to drive the helmet around the track...maybe next year.

We walked out down next to the crew house and it was so pretty, I had to make the girls pose for one more picture. It was a perfect day.

We're Bloomin'!

Here are Morrie's sunflowers finally in bloom. His attire is due to the fact that he was about to leave to help someone demo their kitchen. I think he wanted to wear a shirt with his name on it on case he got lost in all the debris. Anyway, the sunflowers sure are HUGE!

Izzy's Tournament

Here is Izzy being a bossy sweeper. That's a compliment, she learned to be bossy during this tournament, keeping her defensive line where she wanted it and telling people to get on their marks tighter. I was so proud!
Since she played sweeper most of the time (she was feeling pretty sick the first day and probably didn't have enough energy for center mid) she took all the goal kicks and free kicks in her area.

Here is Jammy having breakfast at the tournament. He brought his soccer spirit - sounders gear and cute little suede addidas.

This picture is actually from the first day where her coach tried to hide her in left back. Unfortunately, the first 10 minutes of the game were played totally in her area and she just about passed out. She did so awesome this weekend. They played 3 games and the only 2 goals scored on them were corner kicks, so the rest of the time she managed her area quite well. She even played the entire 2nd game the day after she coudln't play more than 10 minutes at a time. What a trooper girl!!

Umm...something is on your jacket...

Morrie said the other day he went to lint roll his jacket and he was surprised at what he rolled off. I'm just glad he didn't go to work without using that snappy invention of masking tape on a roller.

Whatever...perhaps my "junk" drawer in the kitchen is a little crowded and things are getting all jumbled up...and then perhaps someone (who doesn't live here) looks in the drawer and pulls out a lint roller that has tampons stuck to it...and well...what are they supposed to think??? And no, I don't make this stuff up.

A Billion Days of Sunshine

This is Morri'es first attempt at growing sunflowers. They are 8 or 9 feet high and just started to bloom (more picture will follow!). This summer has done amazing things for gardners!
This si Maria's lettuse, although without a frame of reference, it's hard to tell how big it is. It looks great though!

My favorite annual, I only buy a few each year, and this is such a great spreader!

These roses are pretty hardcore, I haven't watered them too much this year. I have been more concerned with the new plants I had bought for my birthday in the backyard. But look, they continue to bloom!

The hydrangeas. Love, love, love them. Although with all the sun, I was hard pressed to find a bloom without some sunburned edges. I think they might have preferred more rain, but we watered them religously. 3 motnhs of heat, I have loved every second of it!!

Our Favorite Time of Year

Morrie and the girls went to see the Blue Angels. It is Morrie's most favorite weekend of the year. I couldn't go because I was at the all day extravaganza Kenny Chesney Concert!
I HAD to go though, I couldn't miss them. So on Sunday I drove all by my lonesome and had an adventure figuring out where to see them. I ended up in a great spot- by sheer luck - and enjoyed the sights, the noise and the wonder that are the Blue Angels. It wouldn't be Seafair without them!
