A Billion Days of Sunshine

This is Morri'es first attempt at growing sunflowers. They are 8 or 9 feet high and just started to bloom (more picture will follow!). This summer has done amazing things for gardners!

This si Maria's lettuse, although without a frame of reference, it's hard to tell how big it is. It looks great though!

My favorite annual, I only buy a few each year, and this is such a great spreader!

These roses are pretty hardcore, I haven't watered them too much this year. I have been more concerned with the new plants I had bought for my birthday in the backyard. But look, they continue to bloom!

The hydrangeas. Love, love, love them. Although with all the sun, I was hard pressed to find a bloom without some sunburned edges. I think they might have preferred more rain, but we watered them religously. 3 motnhs of heat, I have loved every second of it!!

Our Favorite Time of Year

Morrie and the girls went to see the Blue Angels. It is Morrie's most favorite weekend of the year. I couldn't go because I was at the all day extravaganza Kenny Chesney Concert!

I HAD to go though, I couldn't miss them. So on Sunday I drove all by my lonesome and had an adventure figuring out where to see them. I ended up in a great spot- by sheer luck - and enjoyed the sights, the noise and the wonder that are the Blue Angels. It wouldn't be Seafair without them!

Summer!!

Today is the first official day of summer break in our house. It felt so good when I woke up, forgot what day it was and then suddenly remembered! We celebrated by going out to dinner with my parents lastnight after I got off work. Morrie had taken the day off to take the kids to their last day (mass) and then followed with our annual trip to the library (the FIRST thing we do every year right after school lets out) and then spent the day with the kids. Here are some pictures I took this week in preparation for summer! Blogger is so weird, I can't figure out how to put them in the order I want. Anyway...1) My summer reading list, and I may vacuum the carpet they are sitting on. 2) I plan on napping a lot in the sun. 3) It will be soo hot that we will have to use our ingenius sponges (place them in a cooler of ice water and promptly squeeze over head when taking a break from soccer practice!). What will YOU do this summer? (this is my way of getting more comments, but at least JULIE will comment - that's my way of making everyone else feel guilty about not commenting).
