Hangin' with the Sounders

We noticed a new Ferrari in front of us as drove home from QFC. Niiiice.
Kind of cute, no?

Here we are hanging out with Jarrod Smith (from New Zealand) a former forward of the Sounders. He recently got taken off the roster due to a torn hamstring injury. He still practices with them, and goes to autograph sessions, so I hope they plan on using him when he heals up.

Tournament Pictures

I didn't get very good pictures this weekend, I don't think I was up to the GU13 speed, but I will be by the next tournament! Here are my two favorite players, Kiana and Isabelle (Julie, these are in reverse order of time!). In this first one, Isabelle is praying to every God imagineable, she got that face ball about 10 minutes before, and is now back in and decided to stand right in front of the free kick about to happen. In our house you get a Slurpee for taking this position, dude, I would have given her one anyway, I just about had a heart attack watching this play. Luckily, she didn't get hit again!

Nice Header Izzy!

Kiana uses "the force" to add some oompf to this ball.

Super shot on goal by Izzy! Yes, she does take them this far out (and when she makes me play goalie, I duck out of the way).

Kiana draws from her hockey playing days and shoves this girl out of the way so Kiana can take the ball. hey, whatever works! We find ourselves giggling a lot in the sidelines when our girls get really pushy.

Izzy, thinking to herself "Who the heck plays twice a day in this heat?".

It was a hot one!!

Isabelle's tournament in 85 degree weather was a scorcher!! She played 4 games in 2 days. She scored 2 goals and took a pretty nasty ball to the face. They came in first place point wise going into the semifinals and then lost in the championship game. It wasn't just any final game, it was a 80 minute game in the hottest part of the day (overtime!)- 3 and a half hours after their morning game. They got medals for 2nd place, which was super awesome and had a wonderful time. A huge shoutout to my sister for taking the dog this weekend AND taking Morrie to the airport as he had to leave for Chicago today. THANK YOU!!! Izzy, we are so proud of all your hard work this weekend, way to go!!!

Some great guys!!

Sebastian Le Toux, moments after he made the winning goal in the 89th minute of the quarter final Open Cup game! He is one of our favorite guys, (very fast, super nice to his fans and a former USL Sounder).
Here is Izzy getting Nate Jaqua's autograph.

One of my NEWEST favorite players Patrick Iannni. He is an incredible sweeper and super tough! He was "Man of the Match" for todays game (not this picture, this was a few days ago).
I could go on and on forever about the Sounders, but I know 99.9 % of my readers don't care, so I will keep the rest to myself.

Whistler Activities

First and foremost, making sure we didn't get eaten by bears.
Playing in a river, always good for picture taking too!

Lounging...lots of lounging!

Hot Tubbing, even twice a day.

Horseback riding and hiking on foot.

Ending it all with a movie on a really soft couch!

The Olympics!!

Much fun was had by our family as we shopped at the Olympic store in Whistler, trying on various shirts, looking at the cool souvenirs and getting acquainted with the Olympic mascots. Maria's favorite is "Mukmuk", the small hampster like guy.

We also stopped by the Oympic Park that had ski jumping and a few other events. The main logo is an inukshuk, a formation of stones that helps people find their way in the vast Northern parts of Canada. We had lots of fun making our own. Behind the large one, people have made about 50 smaller versions and left them there, very cool! We are officially hyped up for Vancounver 2010!!

Climbing at Whistler

The right way to go climbing and the wrong way to go climbing. You decide.
